Between a Rock and Other Rocks is a quest found in Dwarrows, which can be started by speaking to Kaysie Placidwaters. The quest cannot be started until the player has completed the Trial in the Pines.

This quest unlocks the Dwarf's Kegnade ability.

Quest Structure

1. In Breezy River Farm, Kaysie Placidwaters is watching over a warehouse of Kegnades. When spoken to after having completed the second Trial, she tells players there is a commotion at a cave along the south road. Note: the road does head south of the village, but almost immediately turns west.
   1. If the player speaks to Kaysie before completing the second Trial, Kaysie explains to the player that the people in charge of the Kegnades, Vivace and Chip, are away on vacation. They cannot be found anywhere until the player progresses past the second trial.
2. If the player follows the road heading south of the village, they find the road almost immediately turns westward. They will encounter Farmer Vivace along the road, west of the village, shouting for help because her husband Chip is trapped. If speaking to the Gnome or the Halfling, she asks for someone who is good with heavy lifting or mining. The player must bring the Dwarf to speak to her.
3. The player follows Vivace to a cave in the cliff face slightly further west, and must try to break open the cave with the Pick Axe. However, this fails, and so Vivace decides to allow the use of a Kegnade, sending the player back to Kaysie to retrieve one.
4. Using the Kegnade, the player destroys the rock blocking the cave, revealing Farmer Chip, who explains that he had moved the rock on purpose to block the entrance to his "gentleman's cavern". Chip and Vivace have an argument, after which the player is promised a steady supply of Kegnades, assuming they can find the Black Powder needed to fuel them.
